White Cane Awareness Day Walk Highlights Accessibility in Burlington
Source: WCAX
Blind and visually impaired Vermonters participated in a historic walk to Burlington City Hall, raising awareness about accessibility on the city's streets. The Vermont Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired reenacted a walk taken in 1930 by one of the association’s first teachers, Anne Connelly, who was among the first Vermonters to use a white cane and walk with a guide dog from her home on Pearl Street to City Hall. The group followed that same path to highlight the importance of accessibility and independence for the blind and visually impaired community. (wcax.com)
