Rise in Website Accessibility Lawsuits Targets Small Businesses
Source: The Blind Bridge
In the first half of 2026, plaintiffs filed 5,006 federal disability-access lawsuits, an increase from 4,575 during the same period in 2025, marking the highest first-half total since 2021. A significant portion of these cases focus on websites that are inaccessible to screen readers or have navigational elements that cannot be operated without a mouse. Notably, approximately two-thirds of these lawsuits were filed against companies with annual revenues under $50 million. This trend underscores the ongoing challenges in achieving digital accessibility and highlights the legal pressures prompting businesses to enhance their online inclusivity.
