RNIB Launches Emotional Support Training for Eye Care Professionals
Source: RNIB
The Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) has introduced new training for eye care professionals to provide better emotional support to patients receiving a sight loss diagnosis. Developed in collaboration with the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, the training aims to equip professionals with the skills to have difficult conversations and outline routes to support services. RNIB research indicates that blind and partially sighted individuals are more than twice as likely to experience unhappiness or depression compared to those without disabilities. The training was launched at an event in Westminster on June 17, 2026. (rnib.org.uk)
