Meta Donates 15,000 AI-Powered Glasses to Vision Ireland

Meta is donating 15,000 AI-powered Ray-Ban Meta glasses to Vision Ireland, aiming to support blind and visually impaired adults. This program offers transformative AI technology, enabling users to read signage and documents, identify objects, and access information about their surroundings, thereby promoting greater independence. Vision Ireland will provide hands-on training with each pair, funded by Meta, ensuring recipients feel confident using the technology. Brian Manning, a Vision Ireland member, shared his experience: 'What I really like about the glasses is the speed at which I get the information I need – instead of waiting for someone to read a letter or waiting for someone to tell me what I have in the fridge, I’ll just do it on impulse. Now I’m doing things for myself independently, that maybe before I wouldn’t have done.'
