Join the Call for Braille and Accessible Food Labelling
Source: Braillists Foundation
The Braille Food Labelling Campaign is reaching out to blind and partially sighted individuals across the UK to share their experiences with food packaging. This initiative, led by Sight Scotland, advocates for essential improvements in accessibility by including braille on food product names and providing full information through QR codes or NaviLens.
For years, medications have featured braille labelling as a standard, allowing users with visual impairments to identify products easily. The campaign aims to extend this to food packaging to enhance everyday accessibility.
The campaign invites feedback from the community until 31 October. The insights gathered will be presented to the Food Standards Agency, pushing for change and ensuring that the voices of those with visual impairments are heard and acted upon.
To contribute your thoughts, engage with the initiative at the Braillists Foundation website.
This effort marks a significant step towards inclusivity in product labelling, highlighting the importance of engaging directly with the community to foster change.
