DOJ Allocates $7 Million to Enhance Security at Religious Sites Amid Rising Threats

In response to a nationwide increase in attacks on religious facilities, the Department of Justice (DOJ) has announced over $7.7 million in funding to bolster security at houses of worship. Faith-based institutions and law enforcement agencies can apply for grants of up to $200,000 to cover expenses related to protecting congregants. This initiative follows a significant rise in active shooter incidents targeting religious sites, with three such events occurring in 2025, more than doubling the previous year's figures.
