Vision-Impaired Archer Aims for World Stage in New Sport

James Griffiths, a 46-year-old from Sale in Victoria's east, has embraced vision-impaired archery after losing much of his sight due to Type 2 diabetes. Utilizing a tactile sight and blackout glasses, Griffiths relies on touch and sound to aim at targets he cannot see. His support worker provides feedback using a clock-face system to describe arrow placements. Griffiths discovered archery through a 'come and try' session promoted by Gippsland Disability Advocacy Incorporated and is now working towards competing in the World Archery Para Championships.
