The Savannah Center for Blind and Low Vision is organizing the 'Walk a Mile in My Shoes' event on Saturday, October 10, at Lake Mayer. This fundraiser aims to raise awareness about the challenges faced by visually impaired individuals. Participants will have the opportunity to experience walking with black-out goggles, simulating blindness, at various stations along the route. The event coincides with National White Cane Safety Day and seeks to support programs that enhance independence and quality of life for those with vision loss. Proceeds will benefit services such as Orientation and Mobility training, Vision Rehabilitation Therapy, Assistive Technology, and Work Readiness programs. Interested individuals can register for the event by visiting the Savannah Center for Blind and Low Vision's website. (voiceoftheblind.com)
