In Northampton, England, new audio bus displays have been introduced to assist visually impaired passengers, providing greater independence during travel. The ePaper displays feature braille buttons and spoken information, announcing the next five buses and their destinations. Hugh Spence, a blind passenger who tested the system, praised its simple design and effectiveness, noting that it made him feel "listened to." The technology is particularly beneficial with the advent of quieter electric buses, which are harder to hear approaching. Stagecoach Midlands and local council officials plan to use feedback from users to further improve accessibility.
