Meta has donated Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses to dozens of blind veterans in Utah, aiming to enhance their daily lives through advanced technology. The donation event took place at the Utah Division of Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Salt Lake City, where veterans received personalized training on using the glasses. These AI-powered glasses assist users in distinguishing objects, reading text, and navigating their surroundings, thereby promoting greater independence. Larry Wade, a Navy veteran and former painter who lost his sight to retinitis pigmentosa, expressed optimism about the impact of the glasses, stating, "These glasses are going to be amazing. Everything’s going to be much easier—just being able to do things like read the labels on cans in the pantry." The initiative is a collaboration between Meta and the Blinded Veterans Association, reflecting a commitment to supporting veterans who are blind or visually impaired. (deseret.com)
