The Lighthouse Guild's Technology Center in New York City recently hosted an in-person workshop titled 'Tech in-Session: Identify and Describe Using Your Smartphone.' The session focused on demonstrating how smartphone applications like BeMyEyes, Seeing AI, and OOrion can assist blind and low vision users in identifying objects, reading text, recognizing colors, and understanding their surroundings through artificial intelligence technology. These apps are free to use and compatible with screen readers, with Seeing AI and BeMyEyes available for both iOS and Android platforms, while OOrion is exclusive to iOS. The workshop aimed to empower participants by enhancing their ability to navigate daily tasks independently using accessible technology.
