British Wireless for the Blind Fund Rebrands as Visably to Enhance Tech Access
Source: RNIB Connect
The British Wireless for the Blind Fund (BWBF), a century-old charity, has rebranded as Visably to better reflect its mission of enhancing technology access for people with sight loss. The rebranding follows research from their report "Until It Clicks," which revealed that individuals with sight loss were missing out on the mental health benefits of technology. Under the new identity, Visably plans to launch volunteer-powered pilot projects in Birmingham, Liverpool, and Glasgow, aiming to fill service gaps and address needs identified in their research. The charity's history dates back to crafting a braille-dial radio for blinded war veteran Sir Ernest Towse, and it has since provided free specialist and sight-loss-friendly technology to tens of thousands. The rebranding marks a significant moment in the organization's history, emphasizing a renewed focus on community-driven support and technological empowerment.
