Win Free Audio Description in BearLynn Digital Studio's Halloween Video Contest
Source: BearLynn Digital Studio
Halloween is a holiday most people remember for what they saw: costumes, carved pumpkins, decorated porches, and pets dressed up as something they never agreed to be. For blind and low vision people, a lot of that fun gets lost when it is shared as video, because most of those videos have no audio description.
BearLynn Digital Studio wants to help with that. The studio is running an online Halloween video contest, and the prize is audio description. Five winners will have their video described and posted for free. Each winner will also get a second video of their choice described for free.
Who Can Enter
The contest is open to people in the United States. Each person may submit one video.
What to Submit
Anything Halloween counts. BearLynn lists these examples:
- Costumes
- Makeup
- Decorations
- Pets in costume
- Anything else that captures the spirit of Halloween
Videos must be five minutes or less and in English.
The Prize
Five winners will each receive:
- Free audio description of their contest video, which BearLynn will post.
- Free audio description of a second video of their choice.
Most creators never get their videos described because professional description costs money. Winning means your Halloween video can be enjoyed by blind and low vision viewers too, and you will have a described second video to share.
Deadline
Entries close Sunday, October 25, 2026 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time. That is less than two weeks away, so if you have been planning a costume or a spooky front yard, now is a good time to start recording.
How to Enter
The entry form and full contest details are on BearLynn Digital Studio's events page: bearlynn.com/events. Read the official rules there before you submit.
Why It Matters
Audio description turns what is on screen into spoken words between the dialogue and sound. It tells a blind viewer what a costume looks like, how a room is decorated, or what the dog is doing in its pumpkin suit. Contests like this one get more everyday, community-made videos described, not just big studio releases.
If you enter, we would love to hear about it. Tell us about your video on the Voice of the Blind Facebook page.
